Firstly can I apologise for the email as I find them a bit cold when trying to get a heartfelt message across to someone.
They say that first impressions last and it was so true in this instance. Having never arranged a funeral before and not knowing of a Funeral Director in the area, after a couple of what seemed to be rather cold phone calls, I decided to call in person on P G Oxley and was met by Marcus in your Clacton Branch.
From the first meeting it was as easy an experience as a funeral can be. Marcus was very professional but more importantly, he was human, knowing when to lighten the mood and when to be more solemn and matter of fact. Visits to the chapel to see Mum were never a problem and all the staff were very accommodating. Our decision to have a non-religious service was met with ease, putting us in touch with Sally Band, the civil celebrant, and was very much appreciated.
We were guided through the day, the funeral went smoothly and the service was special and personal. Where Marcus went above and beyond was when we were travelling from the crematorium to the Black Boy Pub. He ferried family which didn't have cars to the wake like an up market uber driver - on a day when kindness is so important this was such a lovely touch.
We cannot thank you and all the staff at Oxley's enough for smoothing what could have been a very difficult and emotional process.
So from myself, my Dad, brothers and all of our family thank you so much.
I hope I don't have to recommend you too soon, but for other customers at a time of real sadness, they should be assured that they would be choosing someone who cares.
